The area of the triangle formed by the vertices A(2,-3), B(-1,0) and C(2,-4) is given by

$\dpi{120} \large \frac {1}{2}\left [ 2(0-(-4))+(-1)(-4-3)+2(3-0) \right ]$

$\dpi{120} \large =\frac {1}{2}\left [ 2(0 +4)+(-1)(-7)+2(3) \right ]$

$\dpi{120} \large =\frac {1}{2}\left [ 8+7+6 \right ]$
