Area of triangle formed with points (1,n) (3,5) and (-1, 2) is

$\frac {1}{2}\left | 1(5-2)+3(2-n)-1(n-5) \right |=5$

i.e.,                  $\left | 3+6-3n-n+5 \right |=10$

$\Rightarrow \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \left | -4n+14 \right |=10$

$\Rightarrow \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: -4n+14=10$

or               $-4n+14=-10$

$\Rightarrow \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: n=1\: \: \: or \: \: \: \: n=6$
