The area of the triangle formed by the vertices A (2,0), B (6,0) and C (4,6) is given by

$\large \frac {1}{2}\left [ 2(0-6)+6(6-0)+4(0-0) \right ]$

$=\frac {1}{2}(-12+36+0)=\frac {24}{2}=12$

Therefore, the area of the triangle = 12 square units.
