According to Question

A man used tins of paint to paint a hall = $\dpi{120} \fn_jvn \large 2\frac{1}{3}=\frac{7}{3}$

He used tins less to point the hall = $\dpi{120} \fn_jvn \large 1\frac{1}{4}$

Paint used for hall $\dpi{120} \fn_jvn \large =\frac{7}{3}-\frac{5}{4}=\frac{28-15}{12}$

$\dpi{120} \fn_jvn \large =\frac{13}{12}=1\frac{1}{12}$

$\dpi{120} \fn_jvn \large 1\frac{1}{12}$ tins of paint he use for the hall.
