The dimension of a cuboid are in the ratio 5 : 3 : 1 and its total surface area is 414 m^2. Find the dimensions.

let the common factor be x

the dimensions of a cuboid = 5x X 3x X x

Surface are of cuboid = 2(lb+bh+lh)

2( 5x X 3x + 3x X x + x X 5x) = 414

15x^2+3x^2+5x^2= frac{414}{2}= 207

23x^2= 207 Rightarrow x^2 = frac{207}{23}=9

x= 3

So the dimension are 5 X 3, 3 X3, 1 X 3= 15m, 9m, 3m
