Linear Expression in Two Variable

An expression is said to be a Linear Expression in two variables if it is not an equation and it is of degree one. Moreover it has two variables or unknown. The standard form is ax+by+c

For Example:

  • large large 3x+5y=0 is not a linear expression of degree one in two variable as it has an equal sign
  • large 3x+2y -7=0 is not a linear expression of degree one in two variable as it has an equal sign,
  • large 5x^2+2y -7=0 is not a linear expression of degree one as it has an equal sign, and also it is not of degree one
  • large 5x -7y is a linear expression of degree one in two variables as it does not have an equal sign, and it is of degree one with two variables i.e. x, y.
