Meaning of Arithmetic Progression

An arithmetic progression is a sequence of terms such that the difference between any term and the one immediately preceding it is a constant. This difference is called common difference.

For example:

  • 3,7,11,15,19,... ;Common difference 4
  • 7,5,3,1,-1,.... ;Common difference -2
  • 2,1.5,1,0.5,0,-0.5,.... ;Common difference -0.5
