Probability Coin Experiment:

A coin is a small, flat round piece of metal or plastic used primarily as a medium of exchange. It has two faces Heads and Tails. Heads refers to the side of the coin with a person's head on it. Tails refers to the opposite side, not because there is a tail on it, but because it is the opposite of heads. When ever we toss a coin there are only two possibilities i.e. we will get a head or a tail,

Illustration:  Three coins are tossed once. Find the probability of getting exactly two heads   

Solution   When three coins are tossed together the various possible outcomes or we can say the sample space is

(1)   HHH          (2) HHT          (3) HTH           (4) HTT           (5)   THH          (6) THT          (7) TTH           (8) TTT

So the total number of outcomes = 8

Out of these 8 possibilities (2), (3) and (5) satisfy the condition of exactly 2 heads
