Legal Measure to Save The Environment

Legal Measures: 

Some important legal measures have already been taken by the Government of India to conserve and protect the natural resources. These measures are :

  • Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960
  • Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974
  • Air (Prevention and control of Pollution) Act, 1981
  • Environment (Protection) Act , 1986
  • The Motor Vehicle Act, 1988
  • The Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972
  • Mines and Minerals Act (Protection of mines and minerals)
  • 8. Energy Conservation Act (ways to conserve energy)
  • Euro I and Euro II

    The combustion of fuel in engine produces pollutants such CO,;NO_2,;S etc. This emission can be reduced by improving efficiency of engines. In the European Union, a set of standard called Euro 0 was introduced in 1988 to limit the release the release of harmful pollutants.As the standards are periodically revised and made stricter therefore they introduced Euro I in 1992,than Euro II in  1995, Euro III and Euro IV in 1999 and 2005 respectively . Similar emissions standards were also introduced in India . They were named as Bharat stage. In April 2010, Bharat Stage IV was introduced in India and ten other important cities of India.
