Addition Statement Sums With Carry
In statement sum we are given a statement. We have to analyse the statement and then take appropriate action.
Following steps are required to solve the statement
1. Read the statement carefully
2. Find the values that are given
3. Find the quantity which is required
4. Then perform the process to reach the desired result.
Let us consider the following example;
Rahul has 8 shirts and Seema has 8 shirts. How many shirts they have altogether?
1. We will first analyse the statement
2. We will find the values that are given
In the question it is given that
Rahul had 8 shirts and Seema had 8 shirts..
So, No. of shirts Rahul had = 8
No. of shirts Seema had = 8
3. We will find the quantity which is required
In the question it is asked that
How many shirts they have altogether?
To Find No.of shirts they have altogether.
We will perform addition as we are supposed to find the no. of shirts they have altogether.
8 + 8 = ?
We will perform the required operation
On solving we get
Hence they have 16 shirts altogether.
