Column Addition With Carry

Addition can be performed by drawing sticks equal to the digits in the question and then counting all the sticks together we get the desired result.

For certain numbers the sticks are more 10. We will group the 10 sticks together and make a bundle which is considered as carry for the tens digit and the remaining sticks are counted and placed at ones position.

For example let us solve the question

In the figure below there are 8 sticks for the digit 8 and 8 sticks for the digit 8.

We will group the 10 sticks together and make a bundle which is considered as carry for the tens digit and the remaining sticks are counted and placed at ones position.

So at tens position we will have 1 representing the bundle and at ones place we will have 6 that is the remaining sticks

Adding the sticks together we get 16 sticks

Hence the answer is
