Subtraction Statement Sums Single Digit
In statement sum we are given a statement. We have to analyse the statement and then take appropriate action.
Following steps are required to solve the statement
1. Read the statement carefully
2. Find the values that are given
3. Find the quantity which is required
4. Then perform the process to reach the desired result.
Let us consider the following example;
Seema's mother bought 7 pencils from the market and she gave 5 pencils to Seema. How many pencils are left with Seema's mother?
1. We will first analyse the statement
2. We will find the values that are given
In the question it is given that
Seema's mother bought 7 pencils from the market and she gave 5 pencils ti Seema
So, No. of pencils Seema's mother bought = 7
No. of pencils given to Seema = 5
3. We will find the quantity which is required
In the question it is asked that
How many pencils are left with Seema's mother?
To Find No.of pencils left
We will perform subtraction as we are supposed to find the no. of pencils left
7 - 5 = ?
We will perform the required operation
Hence the pencils left with Seema's Mother are 2.
