Lustre :  lustre is the shine of the material. All metals in pure state are shiny and said to posses lustre. This property of metals is widely used for making jewellery and other decorative articles. Example are gold, silver and bronze.

Example :

A metal spoon shines whereas a wooden spon does not shine so much. Silk cloth has a shine whereas wollen cloth does not. We say that meal  has more lustre than wood and that silk has more lustre than wool. An iron rod may not appear lustrous but when you use the sand paper to remove the top layer of the metal than you will see the lustre. Some metals lose their lustre when exposed to air and moisture.
