Direct Speech - Change in Advise or Command Statement: In command and request statements : The imperative verb of the indirect command  is changed to a infinitive in the direct command. We use words expressing command or request such as ordered, commanded, shouted, demanded etc. We also often change the saying verb to tell.

  • Dad told me to do my work. (Indirect Command)
  • Dad,"Do your work".(Direct Command)
  • The verb (to-infinitive) needs an object, and this is sometimes given in the indirect command:

  • Kaushal suggested watching a film. (Indirect Command)
  • Kaushal, "Lets watch a film." (Direct Command)
  • Rohan told me to talk to my friend. (Indirect Command)
  • Rohan,"talk to your friend." (Direct Command)
