Bar  Graph

Bar Graph:

When numerical data is presented as columns on a graph, then this graphical representation of data is called a bar graph. In a bar graph bars of uniform width can be drawn horizontally or vertically with equal spacing between them and the length of each bar represents the given value or data.

Properties Of Bar Graph:

  • Each column is of equal width.
  • There is equal space between each column.
  • The height of each column indicates the value of data.
  • All bars or columns are drawn on the same common base.
  • Steps in construction of Bar Graphs / Column Graph:

Step 1: On a graph, draw two lines perpendicular to each other, intersecting at O (Origin). The horizontal line is x-axis and vertical line is y-axis.

Step 2: Along the horizontal axis, choose the uniform width of bars and uniform gap between the bars and write the names of the data items whose values are to be marked.
