Excretion Meaning

Excretion :  Excretion is a life process which involves removal of the waste material from our body. Excretory products are produced as a by product of metabolic and non metabolic activities. Excretion also occurs in plants. Water and oxygen they  release during the process of photosynthesis are the waste by products of photosynthesis. Unicellular organisms also release waste in the form of nitrogen and sulphur gas which are not useful for them.

Excretory System :

An excretory system  consists of different parts in different organisms. In unicellular organisms like Ameoba excretion occur by the process of phagocytosis. In plants it occur through special kind of cells called as stomata.

In invertebrates like earthworm nephridia are the main excretory organ.  Higher organisms like fish, birds, reptiles and mammals have  more complex systems for excretion. In Humans the excretory system consists kidneys, urethra, ureters and urinary bladder.
