Lithosphere

Lithosphere:

The earth’s outer surface is called the lithosphere. It is the solid component of the earth which includes the sand, rocks and mountains. The Earth consists of three main layers:  The Crust, The  Mantle and The Core.

  • The crust is the outermost solid shell of a rocky planet, dwarf planet or natural satellite. It is usually distinguished from the underlying mantle by its chemical makeup.
