Linear Equation in Two Variable

Definition  Any equation in which all the terms are of degree 0 and 1  and it has two variables or unknown is known as a linear equation in two variables. An equation of the form ax+by+c=0;;or;;ax+by=c,

where a, b, c are real numbers, aneq 0, bneq 0;;and;;x,y  are variables, is called a linear equation in two variables.

Each one of the following equations is a linear equation in two variables:

(i)x+2y=3                          (ii)-2a+3b=4

(iii)frac{3}{2}m-frac{5}{3}n+12=0          (iv)sqrt{2}q-sqrt{3}p-9=0

Explanation: Now let us discuss the equations one by one

Equation 1: The equation has two variables x and y and terms are either degree 1 or 0 so it is a linear equation in two variables.
