Errors in the use of Articles
Errors in the use of Articles: The word a / an and the are called Article. They come before nouns.
A) The choice between ‘a’ and ‘an’ is determined by sound. Before a word beginning with a vowel sound, ‘an’ is used. Similarly, before a word beginning with consonant sound, ‘a’ is used.
B) We use ONE (or more) instead of A/AN when the number is important.
C) ‘A’ is used instead of ‘per”.
D) Use THE with superlatives such as “the best”, “the biggest”, “the most important”, “the least interesting”, etc.
E) English speakers often use THE plus a singular noun when they talk about or make generalizations about certain topics, including:
Example : The Wright brothers invented the aeroplane.
F) The word same and whole are preceded by "THE" :
