 Sikh

  • Sikhism was introduced by Guru Nanak in the fifteenth century, which spread among the Jat farmers of Punjab and other lower castes.
  • Guru Har Govind (1606-1645) started the work of converting the Sikhs into a fighting community, but the Sikhs became a political and military force under the leadership of the tenth and last Guru Govind Singh(1666 - 1708).
  • From 1699 AD, Guru Govind Singh fought continuously against the forces of Aurangzeb and the kings of hilly areas.
