Gadar Party (1913 AD)

  • In the first phase of the revolutionary terrorist movement many Indians settled in USA and Canada. These people published many newspapers from there.
  • 1907 AD Ramnathpuri published 'Sircular-e-Azadi' and Taraknathdas published 'Free Hindustan from Vancouver'. These newspapers were full of national spirit.
  • Dwarkanath Das, an Indian living in the United States, formed the Indian Independence League in California in 1907.
  • In November 1913, Sohan Singh Bhakna founded the 'Hind Association of America', which later published the Ghadar or Hindustan Gadar Patrika (commemorating the Revolt of 1857 AD) simultaneously in English, Urdu, Marathi and Punjabi.
  • In the name of Gadar magazine, the 'Indian Association of America' got the name 'Gadar Movement'.
