Intransitive Verbs

Verbs that do not need an object to make complete sense are called intransitive verbs.

Example:

a. The postman reached late.

b. The dog barks.

c. The boys laugh.

In the above sentence, the verbs reached, barks and laugh are complete in themselves. They do not required an object to complete the meaning. Hence they are called intransitive verbs.
