Invasion of Muhammad Ghori and Haryana
Muhammad Ghori, the ruler of Ghor, (a small state of Afghanistan) attacked India many times from 1175 to 1186 AD and established the possession on Punjab. Prithviraj - III was the ruler of Haryana and Delhi at the time of the invasion of Ghori.
First Battle of Tarain
In 1191 CE, Muhammad Ghori attacked Haryana. Prithviraj - III resisted this attack. In this battle, Muhammad Ghori was defeated by Prithviraj - Ill. This battle was fought in laraori (Karnal) place of Haryana. It is known as the First Battle of Tarain (Taraori) in Indian history. The ruler of Delhi, Govindraj and many territories of North India were with Prithviraj III in First Battle of Tarain. After the Third Battle of Tarain, Prithviraj - ll took over the fort of Tabarhind (Sirhind)
