Identifying Shapes in Mensuration

Mensuration is the branch of mathematics that deals with the study of different geometrical shapes, their areas, and volume. It is based on the use of algebraic equations and geometric calculations to provide data regarding the width, depth, and volume of a given object or group of objects.

Triangle: A polygon which is made of three sides and consists of three edges and three vertices. Also, the sum of its internal angles equal to 180 degrees.

Circle: The locus of all points at a fixed distance from a central point is called a circle.

Quadrilateral: A quadrilateral is a closed shape and a type of polygon that has four sides, four vertices and four angles.It is made by joining four non-collinear points.

Square: It is a quadrilateral where all the four sides and angles are equal and the angles at all vertices equal to 90 degrees each.

Rectangle: A quadrilateral which has its two pairs of opposite side equal in length and interior angles are at the right angles.

Parallelogram: A parallelogram is a quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides and opposite angles are equal in measures.

Polygons: These are made up of line segments and no curves,They are enclosed structures based on different length of sides and different angles.

Cube: A cube is a three-dimensional shape that has 6 faces, 8 vertices, and 12 edges. The faces of the cube are square.

Cuboid: A cuboid is also three dimensional solid having 6 faces, 8 vertices, and 12 edges but the faces of the cuboid are in a rectangular shape.

Cone: A cone is a solid which has a circular base and narrows smoothly from surface to the top at a point apex or vertex.

Cylinder: A cylinder is a 3D shape that has two parallel circular bases connected by a curved surface. It has no vertex.

Sphere: A sphere is a round shape in 3D plane whose radius is extended to three dimensions.

Hemisphere: A hemisphere is referred to as a 3D figure made from cutting a sphere into two equal halves with one flat side.

Frustum Plane: The frustum Plane of a cone is the part of the cone with its base that is left after the cone is cut by a plane that is parallel to its base.
