An equilateral triangle is a triangle in which all the sides are equal.Area of equilateral triangle of side 'a'

 Area= frac{sqrt{3}}{4}a^{2};sq.;units

Illustration: Find the area of an equilateral triangle, of each side 4 units.

Solution : Given side is '4'.

Area of equilateral triangle with side 'a' frac{sqrt{3}}{4}a^{2} sq. units

large therefore Area with side = frac{sqrt{3}}{4} times(4)^{2}sq. units

                          =  frac{sqrt{3}}{4} times 16

                          =  4 sqrt3 cm^2  sq. units

Illustration : Find the area of an equilateral triangle, of each side 2a units.

Solution : Given side is '2a'.

Area of equilateral triangle with side 'a' frac{sqrt{3}}{4}a^{2} sq. units

large therefore Area with side 2a frac{sqrt{3}}{4}(2a)^{2} sq. units =     sqrt{3a^{2}} sq. units
