Letter Substitution with Digits: In these type of problems the letters have been written in place of symbols for example  the digit 1 may be written as x, the candidate has to perform substitution and then solve the question accordingly to reach the desired result.

Illustration: If in an imaginary language, the digits 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are substituted respectively by a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h , i and j, and 10 is written as ba, then find the value of (cd+ef)times bc.

A. 684                         B. 816                     C. 916                 D. 1564

Answer: B

Solution:  Using the information provided in the question, the given expression c is replaced with 2, d is replaced with 3 and so on . the statement becomes as follow

(23+45)times 12=68times 12=816

Hence, the correct choice is B.
