Perimeter of Triangle

Perimeter of Triangle:The sum of the lengths of the sides is the perimeter of any polygon. In the case of a triangle, Perimeter = Sum of the three sides.

  • Equilateral Triangle: This triangle has all the sides equal. Let the side be x. Perimeter = x + x + x = 3x.
  • Isosceles Triangle: This triangle has Two equal sides and one unequal side. Let the equal sides be "x" and unequal side be "y". Perimeter = x + x + y = 2x + y.
  • Scalene Triangle: Triangle with all the three sides unequal. Let the threee sides of triangle be a, b and c. Perimeter = a + b + c
  • Example: Find the perimeter of a triangle having sides 3 cm, 8 cm and 6 cm.

    Solution: Perimeter = sum of all sides = 3 + 8 + 6 = 17cm
